Ana Mancebo – “La Española”

“I’ve been in the stu, tu en el sillon, I’m sorry I can’t put you on my song, my money long yeah, but you wouldn’t know.” Ana Mancebo’s track “La Espanola” is a fiery blend of rap and latin urbano. With her command of these distinct styles and ability to flow between Spanish and English, Mancebo delivers a song like you’ve never heard before.

Originally from Madrid, Mancebo is now based in Miami and the influence of the city is evident in her sound. The song is about being an independent woman in her bag. Ana sings powerfully, “soy dama sin caballero”. In the last quarter of the song, the drums kick up and you are submerged into a full latin urbano fire as she sings the song’s chorus one last time – again with the sentiment of potency and fearlessness that Mancebo has mastered. “La Española” is a small example of what Ana Mancebo is capable of producing – and she is on her way to taking on multiple genres in which women are historically underrepresented – and won’t take anything short of massive success.
